Saturday, November 15, 1924 (continued)
(1) Avenue G 1 (continued)
Street G I-b and G I-a. The north face of G I-b and the south face of G I-a have been uncovered from top of C 1 (?) upwards.
On G I-b the casing runs as usual to a point about 1 meter from sloping passage where the casing stones begin to be laid on a slant and are so laid to the other side of the passage.
[ILLUSTRATION]
It appears at present as if the passage (and chambers) had prepared first, and the pyramid built over the preliminary structure which contained the passage. [Later: The slanting stones begin further east but are there laid on a less abrupt slant than around the passage.]
Sunday, November 16, 1924

(1) Avenue G 1
Street between G I-b and G I-a.

Continued clearing westward to a diagonal line from west of passage of G I-b to about middle of G I-a and started clearing backwards towards east. Immediately exposed a wide and apparently deep cut in the rock running east and west and with a casing partly preserved. Shifted the gangs to the upper debris further east before descending further. This may be the upper eastward arm of a Dynasty 3 stairway tomb (older than G I) [ILLUSTRATION]
