and Abd-es-Salam left yesterday evening on the night train. I telegraphed Said Ahmed to meet both parties.
Received note from Junker regarding Schiaparelli's concession. Saw him at the works about 11. Agreed that I shall take the concession and give him a small corner and allow him passage across our concession.

He authorized me to state this to Maspero and agreed to sign necessary papers. Called on Maspero at the museum at 2:30. Told him of the Junker agreement. (see page 76 [typewritten]. The chief object of my visit was to sound the way in regard to Dahshur). Told him we had about finished at Girga and wanted a new site for extensive excavation. He suggested some Delta site but said that Tanis belonged half to Junker and half to the French Institute. I spoke of Meir but there are he said political difficulties.
