G 7240 north end opposite Isis Temple. Cutting out debris eastward from street G 7100 over north end if G 7140. Exposed small rubble packing which appears to be intrusive as if it had supported a continuation of the Isis temple. But no definite proof of this idea was apparent. On both sides of this cut are fragments of massive crude brick walls. I suspect that these walls which cover the whole southern area of cemetery 7000 from Avenue G 2 southwards and as far east as street G 7500, are the remains of private chapels of the Ptolemaic-Roman period (or even earlier).

Carried line VIII nearly to edge of excavations of 1924-1925 and began clearing out upper debris at end.

G 7166 is west of G 7162.
