Comment on the Strip of Mastabas G 2435 - G 2483 as excavated from January 5, 1940 to ____. Francis Allen.

Mastaba. stone, filled with limestone chips.
G 2435
Retaining walls of stone on west, north, and east. Built against G 2421 on south.
Six shafts A, B, C, X, Y, Z. A is behind the stele.

Shaft A [G 2435 A]: Lined with rubble above, cut in rock below. Total depth 5.1 meters. In debris. fragments of granite. Chamber on south cut in rock. Intact Blocking two stone slabs, one big, one small bound with mud.

Shaft B [G 2435 B]: At north end of mastaba. Rubble lined above, cut in rock below. Total depth 2.8 meters. Chamber on south. Blocking two slabs, and rubble, bound with mud. Intact(?)

Shaft C [G 2435 C]: Ends in limestone filling, lined with masonry. South lining is retaining wall of G 2421. Total depth 1.75 meters. Chamber on west. North wall of chamber is masonry, west wall is partly masonry, partly rubble. Roofed with slabs. No blocking. Cleared February 1st.

Shaft X [G 2435 X]: Built in south end of corridor chapel, against G 2421 and against G 2430 lined on north and west with masonry and rubble. Ends at debris on chapel floor. Total depth 1.43 meters. Chamber on north lined with masonry and roofed with slabs (both lining and roof slabs are (some of them) inscribed stones), reused. Total of six inscribed stones, four in lining and two roof slabs.

Shaft Y [G 2435 Y]: Built in corridor chapel, and against walls of G 2438 and G 2435 lined on north and south with mixed lining, masonry, crude brick and rubble. Total depth 2.83 meters. Chamber on north. Masonry lining on north (crude brick at bottom of north wall). Roofed with slabs. No blocking. Cleared February 1st.

Shaft Z [G 2435 Z]: Built against G 2430. Lined with masonry. Total depth 2.6 meters. Chamber on north. Lined with crude brick, with some masonry on west wall below. Roofed with slabs. No blocking. Cleared.

Shaft A. February 7th - removed blocking. within is east-west coffin cut in rock partly built....
In coffin a tightly contracted skeleton, head west. Face up. Skeleton is male (?). Under and beside skeleton is silt deposited by rain. (page 885)

Shaft B. Removed blocking. Slabs and rubble, bound with mud, and above a bit of plaster. Roofed with slabs. Inside stone rubble and mud from the blocking. A tightly contracted skeleton. Head on north. Facing southeast (chamber on south). On the bones a fragment of mud...
Female (?) Peculiar mud? silt? near the body. Part removed to show the Mudir.
