Giza Archives Press Releases

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

10/1/2006: 7,000 COLOR IMAGES ADDED TO THE 21,000 B&W EXCAVATION PHOTOS ALREADY ON THE GIZA WEBSITE

The original Harvard-MFA Expedition photographic archive of historic glass plate excavation negatives numbered some 21,000 Giza images. These photographs are all accessible online; study copies may be downloaded free of charge, and publishable-quality versions may be ordered. All images are zoomable for purposes of detailed scholarly research.

Recently a new addition, intended to complement the black-and-white views and round out the Giza documentation, consists of over 7,000 modern color views of Giza tombs, temples, and objects. Still more images of both types, color and black-and white, will be added to the Giza website in future months. A wide variety of institutions and individual will contribute these images, and website users will be able to email the copyright holders directly with requests for usage or further information.
